“. . . when I was in  college, one of the first classes I took was a writing
class.  The first day of class, I was late and I missed the instructions. I
walked in and sat down and there was a piece of paper on my desk that
read "I am" . . . and we had to fill in the rest. I wrote a page and turned it in.
The instructor gave me the first and only ever A on the first paper. When
the course was through, she had used several of my papers as examples to
show others what to do. She kept a paper I wrote to show other people.
I still talk to her. She asked me my major and I told her it was accounting
and she told me I was pursuing the wrong field and I should be a writer. . . .
I've always wanted to write.”
