Beau was studying her face intently, the laughter gone from his eyes. He deserved an honest answer. "A man who has had more than his fair share of adoration."
"My share, no matter the size, means nothing if I can't attract those that matter."
Fiona considered his now-serious face. Minus the cynical amusement, its beauty almost winded her.
"I 'matter?' You barely know me," she said.
Beau negated her argument with the barest shake of his head. "I know you."
